Youth Enrichment Program (YEP) was selected as one of the recipients of the Coast Electric Community Trust grants. The grant in the amount of $10,000.00 was funded by the MEMBERS of Coast Electric through Operation Round Up and their Community Trust, in partnership with the Gulf Coast Community Foundation.
The funds which make this grant possible are provided by Coastal Electric members who “round up” their monthly electric bills. The Picayune Carver Culture Center, Inc is extremely grateful for every contribution made, so that together, they can continue making a great difference in the community where Coastal Electric provides services.
The “round up” funds help the Y.E.P. after-school tutoring program (Monday-Thursday 4:00-6:00 p.m.). PCCC-YEP academic enrichment program focuses on reading and math, homework support, computer instruction, life skills, health & wellness, civic engagement, history, and art enrichment. During the summer months the youth learn about civic engagement and volunteerism in community projects such as MLK Day of Service & MLK Celebration, Juneteenth Celebration, The Community Back to School Project, just to name a few. This grant will help PCCC to service the community at no charge to the participants.
“The Picayune Carver Center, Inc and the Board of Trustee’s (leading the board of director is Leavern Guy, who is also a Coast Electric customer) would like to thank Coast Electric, their MEMBERS and the Coast Electric Community Trust committee for trusting in our vision to move this community forward with their generosity and support.” Vinner Scott-PCCC EdD
